ATI licensed HDMI high-bandwidth technology from Analogix Semiconductor, the two companies announced on Monday. The High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a method to pass uncompressed video between consumer-electronic devices such as a set-top box, DVD player, or television. The total bandwidth the standard allows is 5 gigabits per second. The Analogix deal means that ATI will be able to design in support for the HDMI technology into its products, most likely its All-In-Wonder line of graphics and video cards.
