Adobe releases Captivate 6 e-learning software with HTML5 support
Adobe has released Captivate 6, the latest version of its e-learning software, with support for HTML5, which helps users quickly create e-learning and mobile learning content.
The pivotal feature of the update is HTML5, which Adobe has been making huge efforts to embrace in all its software. Users can also publish their HTML5 e-learning content on iOS and Android devices and a pause and resume feature means that students can, for example, begin a course on their desktop PC, pause it and resume it from their smartphone. The software allows users to quickly create high-definition demos of e-learning coursework with the capture-as-a-video feature. Videos can be edited, transitions and smart shapes can be added, and audio and captions can be put in place. Videos can even be published straight to YouTube.Captivate 6 comes with a slew of preloaded content, such as actors, widgets, animated rollovers and other interactive elements that enhance e-learning content. PowerPoint 2010 slides, with their objects and animations, can also be easily imported and any updates or changes will affect the original file through a built-in sync feature. The update also comes with enhanced quizzing, allowing users to add pre-tests, which can direct users to appropriate knowledge or skill level sections of a course based on their results. Enhanced LMS integration means content can also be easily published to Moodle, Blackboard, Plateau, Saba and SumTotal.“Today, learners expect engaging eLearning options on their iOS and Android devices – static presentations shrunk to fit mobile screens aren’t enough,” said Naresh Gupta, SVP of Print and Publishing atAdobe. “Captivate 6 gives subject matter experts and content creators the ability to deliver eLearning content to mobile devices that is as robust and interactive as the content delivered to desktops.”Captivate 6 allows users to create SCORM- and AICC-compliant courses and is available for purchase immediately for $899, or users can upgrade from Captivate 4 for $539 and from Captivate 5.5 for $359.
